Be ready. Reimagine education.

Strengthen your core teaching practices

Turo Guro 2022

Hi! Welcome to Turo Guro 2022 Summer Workshop Series!

How have you been the past two years teaching in the pandemic? We missed seeing each other on campus for our yearly Turo Guro workshops from 2017-2019.

To pivot to the changes of the past 2 years, we offered Radyo Turo Guro to respond quickly to the needs of the teachers, to be with you. We’re happy to have shared these webinars with you.

The Aim

It’s time to come back together to take stock of the unprecedented past 2 years of teaching remotely,  harvest key learnings, and face the challenges that are emerging in our rapidly changing world.

Be Ready. Reimagine Education with us and be part of the Turo Guro workshops this June – July 2022.

The Workshops

Participate in online synchronous, hands-on workshops that range from 1-3 three-hour sessions that include discussion and practical applications focused on strengthening foundational core teaching practices. We will also ask you to start reflecting on how this can be applied in response to the changing roles of teachers and the context of education.

We’ve grouped the workshops into 5 strands.

Teacher as Content Expert

Mastery of Core Content: Workshops in this strand are designed to hone teachers’ expertise in the practices and ways of thinking unique to their discipline and across disciplines. Participants will also learn about effective strategies in teaching the content and skills of the discipline.

Teacher as Learning Experience Designer & Coach

Transforming Teaching and Learning: In this strand, teachers explore ways that they can shift from a teacher-centered to a learner-centered approach in which students are actively engaged in their learning.

Teacher as Formator of Whole Person

Creating Supportive Learning Environments : Workshops in this strand help participants look into how schools can attend to the social and emotional needs of each learner and teach their students important life skills like mindfulness, self-awareness and self-management, and relationship skills.

Teacher as Reflective Practitioner

Reflective Teaching: In this strand, teachers explore how they can keep growing personally and professionally and how they can develop effective leadership (including teacher leadership) skills.

Teacher as Changemaker

Engaging the community, educating together: Workshops in this strand explore answers to questions related to best practices in curriculum development and school reform  that are responsive to community and global needs and that prepare graduates to thrive in a world in flux.
